WIT GOES BACK TO THE SOURCE!
POSTED 10.5.07
WIT is delighted to announce that we will become a resident company at the new Source (at 1835 14th Street, NW) sometime in spring/summer 2008. Before it closed its doors, Source was a regular performance venue for WIT, so the move is a bit of a return to our roots.
Cultural Development Corporation (the outfit behind WIT's current home Flashpoint) purchased Source late last year, saving it from conversion to a bar and grill/pool hall. WIT helped galvanize support for CuDC's rescue operation, creating an online petition and helping to get the relevant politicos to realize the necessity of keeping a performing arts space like Source alive. CuDC is making Source a multi-tenant performing arts facility similar to Flashpoint, but with a blackbox theater that can seat 150 and a prime location in the center of a bustling nightlife scene. We can't wait to play there again.
The space will soon begin renovation and is expected to reopen late spring 2008. Details of when WIT may relocate its offices, shows, and some classes to Source are not yet set— spring 2008 at the very earliest.
