About Washington Improv Theater

Since 1998 WIT has been the nucleus of a growing improv scene in D.C. We are dedicated to advancing the craft of improv through innovative and artistically excellent performances and a comprehensive and supportive training program. The company currently presents over 100 shows annually in DC, regularly presents shows at the nation's most renowned improv festivals, and trains close to 400 students each year in its revolutionary training program.

WIT's Mission

Our mission is to unleash the creative power of improv in DC.
We engage audiences with performances that exhilarate and inspire.
We ignite the play in Washington with a revolutionary training program.
We create a home for improv, connected to the life of the city.

About the Auditions

Experienced improvisers are encouraged to audition, but extensive experience is not necessarily required. We will see as many people as possible, on a first-come first-served basis.

About the Ensemble

Caveat is a really soulful ballad blended with the underlying rhythm of rap, the lyrical surprise of indie rock, the energy of techno and built on the foundation of the feeling you get when you hear your favorite song.

It is the newest troupe formed under the WIT umbrella, previously seen on stage in the form of Juke Joint. Caveat is more than a word, it means something. And apparently that something is different for everyone. While some view it as a six letter caution or warning, we see it as a dare. With every performance Caveat strives explore and play in the world that lies beyond the conventions of improv. For every rule, there is a caveat.
